Here’s a cute and easy nail look: newspaper nails! All you need is a base polish, some newspaper, and some rubbing alcohol. Here’s how you do it:

1. Start with bare nails filed and shaped the way you like them.

2. Cut or rip your newspaper into chunks that fill fit over your nail. (Don’t worry about what the words say, you won’t really be able to read them on your nail.)

3. Apply a base coat. My favorite is Sally Hansen Hard as Nails.

4. Apply a light gray polish or whatever color you’d like (just make sure it’s light enough for the ink to show up on). I used Skull and Glossbones by OPI.

5. Pour some rubbing alcohol into a cup or small dish, just enough to be able to dip our finger in.

6. Dip your nail in the rubbing alcohol. Hold it there for about ten seconds.

7. Remove your finger from the alcohol and press on one of your newspaper chunks. Hold it down firmly for a few seconds. (I like to wait two or three seconds after removing my finger from the alcohol so it isn’t so soaked before I press on the paper, I find it comes out a little darker that way).

8. Press the paper down firmly for a few seconds and slowly peel it off.

9. This is optional, but I chose to add some hearts to each nail with a small paint brush and some dark pink polish (Jamaica Me Crazy by Pure Ice).

10. Apply your favorite top coat and you’re done!
